So now it’s Obama who’s clinging to his guns. I guess the Bible, or the Koran, will come next, huh?

I wrote on August 16 about the seeming compromise of the Obama administration in the health care fiasco:

The Talking Point the Washington know-nothings are pushing now is “health insurance cooperatives”.  Read that “government-run and dictated health insurance cooperatives”.  This attitude of do what I say or else absolutely must stop.  We can see right through that.  “Health insurance cooperatives” means that for-profit hospitals and for-profit health providers will be asked to “cooperate” by donating their hospital rooms, surgical suites, doctors, nurses and other health care workers.  They will be providing whatever the government-run cooperative tells them to provide.  Make no mistake about it.  This is STILL socialized medicine for a socialized America, and we will not stand by and let that happen.

Since I wrote that, I read an article in The Washington Post with the biggest piece of irony I’ve ever seen in a political move.  “Groups pushing for a public plan urged the White House on Tuesday to stick to its guns.”  What?  These groups are telling Obama to hold onto his guns?

Don’t I remember hearing all over the government-run media (because of its extreme bias to anything Obama) that Obama says that is the very thing that we in the working class of middle America do?  Yes, I’m sure that’s the way I remember it.  Obama said, “They get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

What’s wrong with this picture?  Obama clinging to his guns on the socialized medicine for America plan he’s trying to push down our throats is just one picture I simply cannot get a grip on.  (Yeah, we also talk funny in working-class middle-America.  Get over it.)

I don’t know whether I hope he will or will not stop trying to force Socialism (which has never worked before in any society the world has ever known) on a Democratic Republic America.  If he does, I can almost guarantee that same working class middle America will revolt.  He thinks it has been bad to this point?  He hasn’t seen anything yet!

If he doesn’t, he will be admitting that he has lost all control over his so-called Presidency.  He could even be impeached for un-American activities.  He should be.  He doesn’t even resemble an American president.  Obama is already the laughing stock of many Americans; one more strong push from him will insure that there will be some Democrat Senators and Congressmen not returning to Washington after the elections in 2010. There goes his Democrat Congress puppets with all their strings attached.

I feel a little bit like a woman who once said, “I have never been proud of my country until now.”  I have never been ashamed of my country until now!  How many horror stories of socialized medicine do the American people need to hear before they realize that it isn’t the “cure-all” they think it is for people who can’t afford private health insurance?

How many times do they need to hear of a woman having to give birth on the sidewalk because her socialized medicine denied her an ambulance for transport to hospital?

In America under our current health care procedures, Coronary Bypass Surgery has become practically routine; not so in Great Britain.  The 561 patients classified by a study in the UK, were assigned to one of four groups:  “emergent,” “in-hospital urgent,” “out-of-hospital semi-urgent A” and “out-of-hospital semi-urgent B.”

Of the 561 patients, 65 (11.6%) were assigned to the emergent group, 343 (61.1%) to the in-hospital urgent group, 91 (16.2%) to the semi-urgent A queue and 62 (11.1%) to the semi-urgent B queue. Four patients (0.7%) died while waiting for surgery. The median waiting times were as follows: emergent group, 0 days; in-hospital urgent group, 2 days; 30 days in the semi-urgent A group and 49 days in the semi-urgent B group. A total of 52 patients (9.3%) were upgraded to a more urgent queue, and 147 patients (26.2%) waited longer than the standard times for their respective queue.

According to the British Journal of Cancer, the wait for breast cancer surgery between detection and treatment increased by 12 days over the two test periods used in a study even considering the guaranteed 2-week maximum wait for treatment of diagnosed breast cancer.

People die every day waiting for treatment in nations using socialized medicine such as Great Britain, Canada and Australia.  I can’t help wondering if this is really what the Congress of the United States wants for our citizens.

We simply cannot stand by and keep our mouths shut while we are sold this bill of goods which in the words of Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) is a Trojan Horse.  Cooperatives proposed by leading Democrats  such as Sen. Charles Schumer, (D-NY), for example, would be funded, operated, and controlled by the government which by any definition is socialized medicine.

Rep. Tom Price (R-GA) said, “A co-op that is simply another name for a public option, or government-run plan, will be rejected by the American people.”

I strongly urge you to oppose any attempt to force socialized medicine to Americans.  Those who won’t speak out against it are acting from ignorance because it sounds wonderful to have low medical costs, choose your own doctor, the government pays the bills, all you do is get well.

I have lived long enough to know that the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence because it’s Astroturf.  In working-class middle-America speech, it ain’t real, folks!
